Just some friends singing at a local wedding, but you'll never find a professional version of this song to match it for talent or enthusiasm. What a great effort!
The song features lots of aw, shucks, countryside imagery, but I'd be very surprised if there weren't a strong political satire going on at the same time.
It's an old Irish song, after all, and the Irish were the masters of the hidden meaning and the vague, unpunishable acts of aggression. (Like tipping their hat and saying, "good morning, master horse," because the English had demanded that they be greeted with a tip of the hat and a "good morning, squire.")
