Please God, Save Us From The Kindly People

The kindly people of the world want to stop the violence in Gaza, without reference to reality of any kind, without reference to history, with reference only to their immediate need for kindliness . . .

The kindly people of the world, who hate war so much that they would have it stopped wherever they find it, or, more likely, are shown it, without reference to underlying reality . . .

The kindly people of the world, who find terrible things on CNN to which they object, who want peace of mind for the oppressed individuals they find on their TV’s, with no inclination to look for oppressed people elsewhere . . .

The kindly people of the world who want prosperity for children, at least those children who have come to their attention, it’s a big, wide wonderful world after all, one cannot be expected to consider all of the children whose lives may require our attention . . .

The kindly people of the world, full of imperatives, full of non-negotiable demands, full of great ideas that obviously must be implemented immediately, filled with love for all of God’s children, filled with the conviction that their lives are validated by a universal love for all mankind, filed with a sick, stupid, delusional belief that they are incontestably correct in their assessments of everything that they see, and that the entire world should be bent to their will because they are kindly . . .

God, in your wisdom and mercy, save us from the kindly people of the world.

If one thing gets me right in the nuts its those bumper stickers "war is not the answer". What exactly are you trying to tell me? Peace is all we need? Peace settles all the scores??? What the fuck, are you 5? These hippies need to get their shit straight. I'd buy them a clue if i could, or a one way ticket to Darfur.

That "COEXIST" sticker made up of different religious icons also tickles my pickle.

Hope this isn't a double post. I like the bumper sticker that says:
"Please God, save me from your followers."

Don't you believe that the world would be a better place if we could Coexist? I watch CNN every day and I listen to NPR to get my news. I also read the New York Times and Time magazine. As you can see, I am well informed and well read and what I read and hear sickens me. I just don't understand all the violence that goes on every day over in the middle eastern part of the world. I'm not taking sides, but I really don't understand the Jewish people's hatred for their neighbors. I'm sorry but I don't think that war is ever the answer!

Let's not forget, that for every minute of sixty years now the countries around Israel have started wars of aggression against Israel with the stated purpose of eliminating the entire country. Once they figured out that Israel could kick their collective asses eight days a week, they switched to employing surrogates like Hamas and Hezbollah. They all still seek the destruction of Israel.

And don't forget, if it's all about a Palestinian homeland, the surrounding countries could have given the West Bank and Gaza to a Palestinian homeland in 1948, Palestine by now would be a prosperous member state in the United Nations and everybody would be happy, but that was not the Arab agenda. (The Soviet agenda played into it too, to be fair.)

So yes, I think it would be wonderful if everybody could co-exist. But that's not what many big-mouthed, fight to the last drop of other-people's-children's-blood people in that and many other regions want.

Fred:
I agree with your point that the Arab states rejected the establishment of a Palestinian state via the UN resolution in 1948.
I would submit that the conflict goes back to the divided house of Abraham. A family feud that continues to this day.

Of course it would be great if we could all get along. But we don't. Peace does not coincide with reality.

It doesn't take more than a disagreement to launch a whole nation into aggression, thank you Helen of Troy.

Wasn't it just over a hundred years ago that someone came up with a radical idea against owning slaves in this country. That sure kicked up a shit storm. What about the fight for Algiers against the French? The Mexican revolution against Spain? America 1775? What about Nazi Germany vs. the world? or China vs. Japan WWII? I’m not even touching Africa. Isn't Tibet being wiped off the map? and all those folks do is pray for a living.

If my people, country, family & way of life are being threatened, not only do I have the right to react, I have the right to react violently. Right & wrong is an incidental property because the rules of morality do not apply when your children are starving, your house is burning down and you have a gun pointed at your face.

Peace talks look great on paper & I’ll sign on the dotted line, but only after I’m done running for my life & plotting my revenge.

Cherie . . . is that really your name? I think that I know who you are and I'll send you an email to confirm. If it is you, then we've had this discussion before and you know my opinion about your relying only upon NPR, Time Magazine, etc. as your news sources. I've suggested to you before that it would be to your advantage to read periodicals which feature articles and commentaries running counter to your views. Subscribe to "The Journal Of Foreign Affairs" or "The Economist", to name a few. One has only to read those two periodicals to know what will occur, throughout the world, months or even years down the road. Those that contribute to "The Journal Of Foreign Affairs", in particular, are uncanny in their ability to portend future and significant world events. It's as though they have foreknowledge of world-wide events. Of course only a delusional and paranoid individual, that is caught up in the "circular logic" of conspiracy theories, would actually believe that anyone who contributes to "The Journal Of Foreign Affairs" has foreknowledge about anything at all.
