High Gas Prices

You think you've got trouble? Gas at four dollars a gallon? Over here it's up to five dollars, a little more, and the minimum wage is four dollars a day.

I was told by the News that England gas prices are $8.25.

That's what I heard about Spain too, over eight dollars. Here lots of little markets in poor neighborhoods are selling a half liter of gas in a whiskey bottle for twenty or twenty five Baht because people can't spend forty Baht at once for a liter.

England has very high petrol taxes to support social programs that the US does not do. Quit comparing Apples with Oranges.

England, along with the rest of Europe have very high petrol (gasoline) taxes. This helps to support their social programs. It does not make sense to compare prices and not mention this fact.

Very nice to see someone reading back eight pages, I'm flattered. And yes, it's all apples and oranges, more like all of the fruits available for comparison. In Thailand I think it's just the shear expense of importing the gas. Taxes here are a joke, and there are no services.
